Animal flower cave
The Animal Flower Cave, named after its numerous sea anemones in the cave basins, is located at the northernmost tip of the island in the parish of Saint Lucy. Visitors can take a guided tour of the cave and explore the cave pools and even dive into the larger ones. The cave walls are a colorful collection of oxidized minerals, some of which take the form of living organisms such as a human hand, lizard and turtle. Openings in the cave offer scenic views of the Caribbean; one particularly large opening resembles the map of Barbados on its side. Arlington House Museum
Located in the heart of historic Speightstown in the parish of St. Peter, the Arlington House Museum offers a glimpse into the island's past. The restored former home of a wealthy 18th-century merchant. The nineteenth-century Wharf Memories is now a three-story museum with interactive and educational exhibits. The Speightstown Memories exhibit tells the story of the island's first settlers, the Plantation Memories exhibit explores colonization and the plantation system, and Wharf Memories examines the city's maritime importance as a Caribbean port for sugar and sugar byproducts – rum and molasses. The Barbados National Heroes Gallery is located in the historic West Wing of the Parliament Buildings in downtown Bridgetown. Lower Bay
Bottom Bay is a wide and expansive beach on the south coast, just past Sam Lord's Castle and Crane Beach. It is a semi-enclosed beach due to the tall palm trees and coral cliffs that offer panoramic views of the southern shore. Gently rolling waves meet the shore soothingly, adding to the peaceful tranquility of the bay, but rip currents are extremely strong, so swimming is not recommended, although it is allowed for those who wish to swim at their own risk. Emancipation Statue (Bussa)
The Emancipation Statue is a Barbados landmark created by Karl Broodhagen, Barbados' most famous and celebrated sculptor. It symbolizes the "breaking of the chains of slavery"? At Emancipation, which was technically abolished in 1834 but not fully implemented until four years later. In 1838, full freedom was achieved and celebrated when more than 70.000 African Barbadians flooded the street in jubilation. The statue commemorates their freedom, and many Barbadians refer to it as Bussa in honor of the freeborn West African slave Bussa, who began the revolt against slavery in 1816. Carlisle Bay is a natural harbor and arch-shaped bay on the west coast of Barbados, and it is the main port that connects with the capital Bridgetown. Folkestone Marine Park
The Folkestone Marine Park& Museum features an artificial reef formed by the Stavronikita, a sinking ship that lies 120 feet underwater under a half mile offshore. Due to the depth, it is recommended that only experienced divers venture and only with the company of a local divemaster. Snorkelers can explore the park's recreation area, a reef about a mile offshore where marine life such as water lilies, sponges and sea anemones can be found. Garrison Savannah Racetrack
The Garrison Savannah Racetrack is located just outside the capital city of Bridgetown and has been the home of horse racing in Barbados since 1845. George Washington House
George Washington House was where the first president of the United States resided for two months when he visited Barbados in 1751, the only country he visited outside of colonial America. This fact, as well as the knowledge gained 250 years ago in Barbados, fascinates visitors and barbarians alike. The first floor is furnished and staged as it would have appeared in 1751. The Morgan Lewis Windmill is located in the northern parish of St. Andrew in the lush Scotland District overlooking the east coast of the island. Project HARP Space Gun
Project Harp Space Gun was initiated to create a giant weapon with the sole purpose of shooting projectiles into space. It was designed by ballistics engineer Gerald Bull and constructed from a 65-foot, 16-inch naval gun, reminiscent of what you would see on a battleship. Shortly thereafter, another barrel was added, extending the gun length to 130 feet, making it too large for military applications but supposedly ideal for satellite deliveries. In 1963, the gun set a world record for sending an object 112 miles into the sky, but was otherwise ineffective.Today, its rusted remains can be viewed with permission at the active military base where it is located.
